• This course is designed for all content area teachers from grades K-12.  The participant will be introduced to the alignment between Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening Standards addressing the State Anchors and Eligible Content and the Common Core Standards. The course will incorporate techniques designed to teach all students to understand literacy. This course is designed to change the way teachers think of literacy, and more importantly, change their classroom practice. Teachers across the curriculum will learn that they are responsible for producing learners who possess the literacy skills needed for the 21st Century. The course will help teachers assist students to comprehend various types of text, and help students raise literacy understanding across all content areas.
  • The course, Strategies and Activities to Increase Student Engagement, is designed for educators to discover and experience a multitude of research-based strategies and activities to create an active, enriched learning environment. Participants will discuss and apply current research based theories, principles, and practices to support and develop engaged students. Participants will be tasked with sharing knowledge and experiences, refining understanding of content and alternate assessment, giving and receiving feedback, and aligning all activities to Academic Standards. Time will be provided to assess personal and professional strengths as a motivator for the purpose of increasing expertise and reflection and adjust accordingly. A portfolio of the participants’ top 10 strategies to be utilized in the classroom will be the culminating activity. This resource will create a purposeful, meaningful, and connected relationship among content, engagement, and comprehension.


  • This online course is designed for all content area teachers from grades K-12.The participant will be introduced to the alignment between the Mathematics Standards addressing the State Anchors and Eligible Content. This course will discuss the Mathematics Standards set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. It will also incorporate other techniques designed to teach all students to understand mathematical literacy. The course will be designed to assist teachers to train their students to utilize a variety of literacy tools (example:writing tests and mathematics strategies) to sustain mathematics skills and to develop their students into successful students. Teachers will learn to integrate literacy and study skills instruction in their classrooms while designing mathematics assignments that afford students access to the concepts in the text.
